Don’t Edit Your Best Self of Your Pictures

We are our own worst critic. I am going to say this for your own good. STOP IT! All of those filters and editing abilities on our favorite apps have made it so tempting to change your appearance in every photo into something that isn’t real. Your God-given beauty is meant to be full of “flaws” that aren’t actually flaws at all.

As a photographer it is my job to document your life. Photos are important, as they tell a unique story about you and capture a specific moment in your life.

Wouldn’t you rather have an authentic memory than one that is edited into false perfection?

I don’t like editing away what people see as their “flaws”. Those edits change your story. I often hear people complain about their body, especially when being photographed. What I often tell them is:

“Look at yourself through your loved one’s eyes and you will no longer see the flaws.”

You are a catch. You’re beautiful! That’s who I want to document, not a fake, photoshopped version of the real you. When you try to live up to someone else’s expectations, you miss the opportunity to be the best version of yourself.

Don’t let your photos miss out on the best version of you!

When you choose to hire a professional photographer to capture an important moment in your life, be ready to embrace every part of yourself. Don’t short change yourself! Let the photos show off everything about you and I guarantee you’ll be pleased with the authentic memory captured on film.
